The Sin Problem

 

I.        The Sin Problem is Universal

A.     Sin is a problem for those who have rejected God, Romans 1:18-32.

B.     Sin is a problem for those who have a sense of moral responsibility,
but who do not have access to God's word, Romans 2:1-3, 11-13.

C.     Sin is a problem for the those who have access to God's word and know
His will, Romans 2:17-25; James 1:22-27.

D.    Romans 3:23



II.     The Sin Problem is Deadly

A.     Sin separates man from God, Isaiah 59:1, 2.

B.     Sin denigrates man, Romans 1:26, 27.

C.     Sin enslaves man, John 8:31-34; Romans 6:12-18.

D.     Sin corrupts man, 2 Peter 1:4.



III.   The Sin Problem Has a Remedy

A.     God's grace as expressed through Christ (the Gospel) is the remedy
for sin, Romans 1:16, 17.

B.     A man must choose to place His trust in God's grace, Romans 1:16, 17;

1 John 5:4.

C.     Sin is inexcusable, but this remedy makes it doubly inexcusable,
Romans 8:3, 12-17.



IV.  The Sin Problem Demands Action

A.     As we pointed out above, we must chose to place our trust in God's
grace.  When we make this choice we must take action.

1.      The Bible teaches we must believe that God is, and that He is the
rewarder of those who seek Him, Hebrews 11:6.

2.      The Bible teaches we must repent of our sins and be baptized for the
forgiveness of our sins, Acts 2:38.

3.      The Bible teaches we must rise from baptism to walk in newness of
life-a life of faith in God which Paul describes as a life "enslaved to
God," and a life in which sin is no longer the master over us, Romans
6:1-23.
