THE POWER OF LOVE

     The love of God saves the human being He created!  God's human creation 
sinned and fell from the Creator's pres-
ence.  God in His love did what His own righteousness requir-
ed:  "By this we know love, because He laid down His life for
us" (1 Jno. 3:16); and "In this the love of God was manifested
toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the
world, that we might live through Him" (1 Jno. 4:9).  Now that
is powerful love!

     God's love comes from amazing mercy and grace.  Love
begins from a Father Who loves His fallen children: "In this is
love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent
His Son to be the propitiation for our sins" (1 Jno. 4:10).  Also
"We love Him because He first loved us" (4:19); and "God is
love" (4:8), impresses us with the greatness of God's love.

     Mankind's response to God's love is all about believing and knowing the 
love God has for them.  Fellowship with God
is built upon His love: "God is love, and he who abides in love
abides in God and God in him" (1 Jno. 4:16).

     The apostle John describes the power of God's love in the
lives of Christians: "But whoever keeps His Word, truly the
love of God is perfected in him.  By this we know that we are
in Him" (1 Jno. 2:5).  There are at least six results of God's
powerful love working in Christians:

     1) God's love keeps Christians from stumbling (1 Jno. 2:10

     2) God's love assures passage from death (1 Jno. 3:14).

     3) God's love proclaims that Christians are born of God 
         and know God (1 Jno. 4:7).

     4) God's love reveals that God abides in Christians, and
          His love has been perfected in them (1 Jno. 4:12).

     5) God's love gives Christians boldness in the day of judg-
         ment (1 Jno. 4:17).

     6) God's love casts out fear (1 Jno. 4:18).

     Over and over again the love of God shouts, "Love your
brother."  You can not claim the power of God's love if you do not love your
