PERSONAL CONCERNS
Life Notes to the Baby-Boomers
Our lives are lived out here in this world as individuals among many other
individuals, our understanding of this concept will surely determine our
ultimate goals in life. We are all born into this world with parents who may or may
not have wanted us in the first place. I believe from observation that most
of us [i.e. a vast majority] were wanted when we were conceived and were born.
Yet, the truth of the matter is, as an individual I could not choose my
parents; choose the color of my parents, what country my parents lived in, what
education my parents possessed, and on and on. Even though these factors and
others are true about me, there came a time in my life when I understood for myself
that I was a person with individual tastes in most everything imaginable.
I {i.e. we individuals}, do not remember when we began to
understand and want to make decisions for ourselves but this opportunity came to us
one day without being told. Most of us have not acquired to the personal
desires and dreams that we had for ourselves here as far as material, and arbitrary
goals were at one time hoped. Reaching our materialistic as well as other
personnel goals often were out of reach or were not made available to us because
of environmental or economic conditions or both. While we may have desires for
materialistic things at an early age our desires and goals in such matters
change with age. Since age does play a vital role in our materialistic and other
goals in life we often reach a point when we throw up our hands and say to
ourselves I can no longer do this, I will not live long enough and must give up
this dream or goal.
The great awakening that comes to most, if not all of us
somewhere between 50 and 70 must surely be a great shock; we cannot accomplish all
that we had hoped for when we were 17 to 50. Realizing this, we sometimes are now
ready for some soul, and goal searching. This is especially so if we have
ignored the God who created us. Perhaps we are totally ignorant of the nature of
the Bible and what it says and are also totally without information of church
or religion, or far that matter, what any of it really means or where to find
out about it. Since I have been accustomed to taking care of all my
situations personally without seeking any other assistance, I now find that I need some
help of some kind to deal with the nagging questions that have dawned within
my head and such things that are causing we sleepless nights and worrisome
days about late life, retirement, health issues, and my own death as well as
death of my spouse.
Now, I am beginning to see the importance of those neglected
periods of investigation that were available to me earlier in life, indeed; I must
inquire into these matters now – urgently! “O” if I had taken advantage long
ago of opportunities that I had, perhaps my family would still be healthy and
all alive and well instead of what has befallen them and me.
This is my current resolve, I will pursue the wisdom that I can
find in the Holy Bible, I will seek help in understanding the Bible from
someone who knows something about it, I do hope I still have time to get this part
of my life on track? Such are the lamentations of the persons who have
neglected their relationship with God until late in life. So many things could have
been different with their marriage, their children, their friends, their
longevity, their education, their morals and ethics and many other things.
IT IS NEVER TOO LATE:
God knows about delay, about neglect, about failures in our
lives, about delays, about misspent and abused lives and personal loss. Indeed, God
is sill here to give us the right information if we want it. You see, God
stated a fact about man and his sojourn here in this world long ago through the
prophet; Jeremiah 10:23, “O Jehovah, I know that the way of man is not in
himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.”
TURN TO GOD NOW:
Perhaps you did fail to get things on track with God long ago and
you do regret it, don’t continue to delay, come to God on HIS terms and you
will find a peace that passes understanding; Rom 5:1-2, “1 Being therefore
justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; 2
through whom also we have had our access by faith into this grace wherein we stand;
and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” ASV - Phil 4:7, “And the peace
of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your
thoughts in Christ Jesus.” ASV
NOW, OBEY HIM AND BE SAVED FROM SIN:
Hebrews 5:8-9,
“8 though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered;
9 and having been made perfect, he became unto all them that obey him the
author of eternal salvation;” ASV
“THE CHURCHES OF CHRIST SALUTE YOU”
Romans 16:16,
“Salute one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ salute you.”
ASV
You will be welcomed to the assemblies of churches of Christ that meet near
you. You ought to attend worship and Bible study so that you may know God’s
will for you now that you understand your need.
