Brethren and Friends, Jim Sasser here. A very good Thursday
morning to each and everyone. May God bless you and yours.
I will be away from my computer a couple of days. I hope to be
with you again Monday, the Lord willing. Here is an article from
my files:

"GREAT" SALVATION

I do it also. Sometimes I use too many superlatives. Even
the common things of life I will sometimes call "great", "super" or
"tremendous." Then when something truly extra-
ordinary comes along I'm left without adequate adjectives to
describe it. But the Scripture is sparing in it's use of such
modifiers. Therefore when an inspired writer calls something
"great" you can know that it is so! The writer of Hebrews ask-
ed, "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation...?"

Salvation is great because God designed it. David declar-
ed, "Thou who has done great things; O God, who is like Thee?" (Psa. 139:17).
And Job exclaimed, "Behold, God is
great..." (Job 36:26). From before the foundation of the world
God the Father planned that man should be redeemed through the blood of His
Son, Jesus (Eph. 1:3-7). That He,
the great Creator and Sustainer of the universe, would care
for my eternal well being, plan its ever detail, and execute the
plan without fail, is a wonderful blessing indeed.

Salvation is great because Jesus died for me. For some
family member or some good man we might give our lives. But God demonstrated
"His own love toward us, in that while
we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Rom. 5:8). Especial-
ly moving are the words of Paul in Gal. 2:20, "the life which I
now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, Who lov-
ed me, and delivered Himself up for me." For Paul, the death
of Jesus on the cross was not vague and impersonal. He saw
Jesus on the cross paying the penalty he deserved. It is for
my sins that Jesus faced Calvary and that makes the blessing
of salvation great.

Some things are truly "fabulous", "spectacular", and "awe-
some." But the greatest of these and deserving of all the
superlatives one can use is the blessing of salvation in Jesus
Christ. This blessing is offered to every man and every man
should seek it. (Matt. 7:21). ---- Jim Deason in The Jackson
Drive Reporter, Nov. 12, 2006.
